From Teenage Mother to Founder of a Green Enterprise: My Journey to Empowerment

Hi everyone, my name is Thrissah Kamadzi, a 27-year-old entrepreneur and the proud founder of Ecocraft Solutions, a green enterprise focused on creating sustainable and eco-friendly cooking solutions for our community. Today, I want to share my story—a journey of resilience, determination, and hope.

Becoming a mother as a teenager was one of the most challenging moments of my life. I had to grow up quickly, putting my child’s needs before my own. For a while, it felt like my dreams were slipping away. But deep down, I knew I had to make something of myself—not just for me but for my child.

After some time, I found the courage to return to school and continue my education. I pursued a certificate in hospitality, which led me to open a small cottage business. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and I had to close the venture. It was heartbreaking, but I refused to let failure define me.

Instead of giving up, I went back to school, this time to study entrepreneurship. That decision changed everything for me. With renewed knowledge, determination, and purpose, I launched Ecocraft Solutions. This business is more than just a company; it’s my way of giving back to the community.

At Ecocraft Solutions, we create sustainable, eco-friendly cooking solutions that benefit the environment and the people who use them. Our mission also includes empowering local young women, artisans, and especially teenage mothers, providing them with opportunities to rebuild their lives and find financial independence.

I am thrilled to share that my efforts are being recognized on a global scale. This year, I have been selected to participate in the Women Entrepreneurship for Africa 2024 program, the Biodiversity Partners Programme, and I am honored to be nominated for the prestigious SHE Awards 2024. These achievements remind me of how far I’ve come and inspire me to dream even bigger.

To all the women out there in the entrepreneurship industry, I want to say this: never stop believing in yourself. Your dreams are valid, no matter how impossible they may seem. Challenges will come, but they can shape you into a stronger, more determined version of yourself.
