Introducing myself and my journal

This is Saren, from Cambodia, now studying in Asian University for Women in Bangladesh. My major is Asian Studies and I minor in Gender studies.

Since I was little, I've seen domestic violence happening all around me. I see husbands pull their wives' hairs and knock her down to the ground or throw her to the wall. I see him hitting her head with his boots. I see him kicking her over and over again. I see the women crying, bleeding, and struggling to fight back, but never winning. Those violent husbands were never punished. I then swear to myself that I would do something to stop this no matter how hard it is.

Here I am, in this amazing community, advocating mainly this domestic issue in my country, Cambodia.

I hope to do more than just writing in the future. I hope to work with the UN focusing on solving women's issues and then finally I hope to have my own NGO where I could help those unfortunate women receive justice. I also hope to start up a center where boys and men will be taught and told that violence against women is wrong and that they need to stop doing it.
