Gendered Disinformation: A US National Security Threat or a GLOBAL THREAT???

2025 is starting off with a bang, boom, and lots of noise (and I like it). I just received an invitation to attend online a Stimson Center event that will "...Explore how gendered disinformation shaped 2024 elections, threatening democracy and security, and join experts to discuss its impacts and policy solutions".

One of the speakers is someone I hold in high regards - Joan Onyango-Obunga, Kenya Country Office, UN Women.

Setting the stage for this event, the Stimson Center noted, "n 2024, with over 60 national elections held and record-breaking voter turnout, gendered disinformation has been a notable factor in electoral interference and influence operations. These tactics have raised critical questions about their impact on gender diversity in politics, electoral outcomes, and approaches to national security.

But a word of warning, this event will take place on January 12 for half of the world, so be sure of the start time in your time zone.
