Reproductive Health needs of Rural Women

A training was recently conducted where by rural women living with HIV/AIDS were trained on their reproductive health and nutritional needs. During the needs assessment carried out before the training it was discovered that amongst the target group even thoughthey were infected with HIV/AIDS anly about 10% understood how having unprotercted sex unfaithful partners could affect them or others. About 20% had already decided that there was no need to waste money on sustaining their health. This program help to build the capacity of these women by educating them on the need to protect themselves from reinfection and at the same time reduce the spread of the virus, enlighten them on the fact that with proper treatment and nutrition they could continue living normal lives. This women were also encouraged to join the support group as a way of sharing experiences, as well as learning fron the experience of others.
Lastly, they were sensitised on the need to advocate against discimination and violence against women and widows living with HIV/AIDS as many shared experiences of being ejected from their homes by land owners because of their HIV status.
