Love and Respect to women

Eve teasing should not be used euphemism ally rather a great violation of women’s human rights through sexual harassment openly, street harassment or molestation of women by men. The wrongdoing behavior of male is in the form of sexual violent behavior that range in brutality from sexually indicative comments to girls/women in public places. Each time of teased girl/women hurts her ruthlessly and means to own as if mini rape publicly. Any type of comments, gesture or behaviour from a male destroy the complete self image of women as human being; and severely damage the mental health of women. Therefore, eve teasing means not only sexual harassment of women rather fairly violation of women's human rights together.

It’s a great regret to mention, according to social researcher; about 90% of girls in the age of 10-18 years are usually the victims of eve teasing in Bangladesh. On the other hand, about 58% of 8th -11th grade girls report being sexually harassed often or occasionally in the world where 39% of them as reported for daily harassment.

It seems that, social discrimination against women is extensively accountable for the ill treatment to women in the eyes of men due to lack of adequate presence of learning of morals, values to the children at family, socially and schooling level respectively. Despite that, ever-increasing domestic violence and oppression to women are also included with the core reasons behind emergent number of incidences of eve teasing. Children of the families from their childhood, has been learnt from the prevailing status of too little respect and proper behaviour to their mother or female members very often happened at home and in the society. Prevalence of certain ethical standard of women is quite absent too. Adding together, uncaring of parents, and gender isolation from childhood in between boys and girls, uneven parental relationships and the repression of man-woman relationship in literature, advertisement, film, drama, novel, repeat and reinforce the patriarchal model of masculinity in the mind of the growing male child. Furthermore, the psychodynamics of eve teasing are closely linked to the issue of masculinity and the mannish violent behavior. Therefore, men are socially grown up with the attitude of violent and commanding, while women are with fragile and vulnerable. So, in case of eve teasing, the body of girls or women is the key target of eve teaser with considering as the worst weakness due to discriminated socio-cultural learning. Disappointed by resulted of the reasons as recognized above, the states of mind of today’s young men are increasing to a alarming number of nastiest house instead of innovativeness, sacrifice and devotion. They urgent need to locate an outlet to vent of such inhumane aggression.

The evil problem of eve teasing would ever not have taken place in Bangladesh in such a terrorizing circle if there been stopped up defending and sheltering from cruel dealing of political culture and social side to the criminals’ end. On the other hand, rarely, extends effective support from families and other social stakeholders aiming to fearlessly guarded girls or women own selves with expected self-confidence. The legal trappings against eve teasers however remain inadequate at present in the country. Many cases go unreported for fear of reprisals and exposure of public shame. In some cases police let the offenders go after public humiliation, a kind of mural punishment in which the punished person takes the position of a rooster by squatting and brings the arms between the legs and firmly holding the ears.

To live in an alternative world, ‘Love and Respect to women. Look to her not only for comfort but for strength and inspiration and the doubling of your intellectual and moral powers. Blot out from your mind any idea of superiority, you have none’.
